Finished kitchen
Well, I think we can now finally draw an end to the new kitchen saga. The decoration is done and the TV and Wii reinstalled, so the kids are happy. The weekend project was to put the curtains back up and since they haven’t fallen down yet, I’m going to quit whilst I am ahead. We still need blinds for the kitchen window, but since we haven’t had any for the last 15 years, I am declaring that ‘out of scope’.
Floor!
Amazing… we finally have a floor. Well, at least the kitchen area is finished. The family room is still to do. Work resumes on Monday.
The final phase...
Day 131… and works have finally resumed! Floor over the next few days, painting next week.
Kitchen Day 16
The kitchen took another big step forward yesterday with the installation of the granite work surfaces. Taps, hob-fitting, flooring and painting still to go…
Kitchen Day 10
The kitchen project has reached the end of phase one. Everything that can be done prior to the fitting of the granite worktops is done. Oven and fridge/freezer are operational. Next step is tiling in the utility room and fitting of the granite, which takes place later in the week.
New kitchen day 7
Today’s progress has all been at the other end of the kitchen, hence the shift in camera viewpoint. We now have the new fridge installed and the utility room has been transformed.
New Kitchen Day 6
Things are definitely moving along on the kitchen front, partly because I missed a day in my photo journal. This was because I was out till late eating and drinking with the team from BA Holidays and guests from the travel industry. An enjoyable evening was had by all, although this morning I rather wished I had headed for bed a little earlier!

The holes in the wall are now gone and as a bonus we now have an interesting ‘two tone’ look. No workers here tomorrow, so next update will be Monday when the fitout begins.
Kitchen Day 1
Our long overdue project to update the kitchen is now finally underway. I’ve decided to keep a photo diary of progress, so here is the status at the end of day one. As you can see, things get worse before they get better!
