Spent the day hosting at Wimbledon. The great English weather made a brief attempt to spoil proceedings, but the rain mainly fell whilst we were enjoying a rather fine lunch. Golden wedding celebrations

We celebrated my parents’ golden wedding anniversary last weekend at Sopwell House near St Albans. It was a great family occasion and for once, even the weather obliged with blue skies and sunshine.

Visited Houston to celebrate now being able to operate the route from Heathrow. Evening entertainment involved Armadillo racing. Very strange. I am in orange on the left and despite appearances, my Armadillo did in fact come through to win!

The flowers of this variety of iris (Neomarica gracilis) last just one day. Managed to photograph this one first thing in the morning before it had begun to fade. Beautiful.

We switched a further 15 longhaul flights to T5 today – the first since the less than successful opening day. The media were on hand to write the “more chaos at T5 story” but left disappointed.
